There are three elements that define my life.
As an environmentalist, I’ve spent over 40 years working in forestry, conservation and sustainability projects.
My work cut across diverse habitats in East Africa and Southeast Asia. Trees are my touchstone species.
As an essayist and writer, I’ve written mostly about popular science and cultural awareness for magazines, newspapers and online sources.
I am self-taught from reading books: old school. Writing clarifies your thoughts and allows you to learn for a lifetime.
As a new songwriter, I am exploring creative boundaries after studying music theory during the pandemic.

I grew up in the United States and went to college in Texas. I’ve lived the last 30 years outside America. It gives you a different perspective about the world.
Making decisions in life is hard, but critical for gaining progress.
My goal is to convey some real life rules and strategies that worked for me. They may also work for you or give you insights into your own self-discovery.
